They say that Marco Polo first described VSOA in his journals. They further describe the spirit itself as a 700 year old product that has never before been shared off the island of Sri Lanka. The spirit is an “arrack,” a style of spirit more well-known for Middle East origins (and spelled “arak”) but here in Sri Lanka made from a base of coconut flower nectar.
