2007 is the first vintage of Piper Heidsieck Rare Rosé. Aged for eight years in the Champagne house’s cellars, this has notes of pomegranate, vanilla, passion fruit and exotic herbs.

This “Brut Rare,” from the great 2002 vintage, is a fantastic relative value in champagne. Recently disgorged, this has a honeyed, rich and ripe profile, with notes of lemon custard, toasty lees, and baby powder. It’s showing brilliantly at age 15.
Nose: Smoked nut.
Palate: Flavors of toasted brioche, crushed blackberry, lemon preserves and honey.
Finish: Rich and vivid, with a lasting finish.
Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck was the last of the three Heidsieck houses to launch. All three Heidsieck champagne houses (Monopole, Piper and Charles) originated from Heidsieck & Co (now named Heidsieck & Monopole), established in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck.
