This is an exceptionally rare bottling from our earlier years of distillation. The maturation in an ex-bourbon cask allows the smooth elegance of our exceptionally light and fruity distillate to shine through.
Nose: Soft honey, vanilla, and pears, accompanied by oaky notes and spices.
Palate: Rich and syrupy, like a sponge cake with marzipan, with some light oak and bourbon coming through alongside soft yellow fruits ringing with papaya and pineapple notes.
Finish: More perfumed fruits, but malt the most persuasive flavour.
The company was launched in 2000 as the Welsh Whisky Company. Whisky had been distilled in Wales for hundreds of years, but stopped in 1894. Penderyn became the first whisky to be manufactured in Wales for over a century when sales started in 2004. It remains the only whisky currently produced in Wales.
