Description
New Deal Original Portland Vodka Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose has a slight limestone-like note to it with a slight powdered sugar undertone. Portland 90 Vodka isn’t vapory and has no citrus in the nose.
Palate: The entry is very soft, round, and sweet with the slightest core of white pepper spice. It’s wonderfully balanced right from the start with a delightful mouthfeel. The core spice from the entry opens and envelops the sweet notes without obliterating them. It’s almost like the sweet and the spice trade places for a mid palate transformation that’s spectacular.
Finish: The finish is long and balanced with nice spice and sweet in even amounts.
Distillery Information
New Deal Distillery was founded in 2004 and prides itself on the “do-it-yourself” attitude of Portland, Oregon. They have a relationship with Loft Organic Liqueurs to produce the grain alcohol base used for the liqueurs offered by that California based company. New Deal comes with a philosophy of local spirits over industrial vodka “made in a vat the size of a city block” by “a consortium of people more interested in diversifying their portfolios than sitting down for a sip with customers.” The distillery is meant to be a symbol of hope, progress, and prosperity.
