As a child, JJ Whitley would have spent most of his time playing in the extensive gardens and hedges of his vicarage homes. As he grew, home-grown fruits and vegetables from the British garden became the staple of his kitchen table, keeping pots and, later, his recipes for gin and vodka, such as this potato vodka, made with 100% natural potatoes. The JJ Whitley range complements other spirits within the Halewood International portfolio, such as the premium Whitley Neill Gin – and therefore allows operators and retailers to stock a diverse range of products, with more options for consumers.
Nose: Dry with lighter shades of black pepper.
Palate: Clean, crisp, slightly sweet flavor, black pepper at the end and creamy mouth feel.
Finish: Finish is smooth and long.
The new JJ Whitley Russia Distillery in Saint Petersburg has been opened to “further enhance the provenance and quality” of the JJ Whitley portfolio. The company, producer of Whitley Neill gin and Crabbie’s Scotch whisky, has also changed its name from Halewood Wines & Spirits to Halewood Artisanal Spirits. The move is said to reflect its ‘continued focus on growing a premium artisanal spirits portfolio’. The new distillery in Russia is also in line with this strategy.
