Hakuto is elegant, refined, delicate, and charming. This Tokubetsu Junmai is a perfect representation of their house style—balancing full flavor with elegance and refinement. Stylistically, it shows umami, hints of sweetness, subtle fragrance, and finishing spice. On the nose, this sake shows honey and winter spice. On the palate, these same notes come through with complexity, subtlety, and finesse. It finishes with a crisp spice. Distillery Information

Founded in 1722, this brewery is very much a family business in every sense. The heads are a husband and wife, Kiichi and Akiko Hakuto, who met at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Department of Fermentation Science. Kiichi is the ninth generation of his family to carry on the brewing tradition and Akiko shares his love of sake. Together they brew, manage and promote their sake, and their home is even connected to the brewery. Now that is dedication!
