Detailed Description
A Vintage Cognac is a showcase of a Cognac producer’s ability to discern and select the finest eaux-de-vie from one harvest alone. This Cognac is over 50 years old, and has been selected from a harvest in one of the finest growth areas in the region – the Petite Champagne. The Petite Champagne is renowned for chalky, limestone soil that drains easily, and an optimum maritime climate that is perfect for growing grapes. This Cognac captures the weather conditions of that year, 1975, and has seen history unfold before its very eyes. Aged in French oak barrels in the Atlantic cellars of La Rochelle, the salty air gives it a certain quality. Usually, Cognac is blended by the Master Blender, but instead, it is a way of letting nature express itself fully. All the Master Blender does is safeguard the eaux-de-vie in oak barrels, nurturing it quietly and respectfully until it has reached full maturity.
