Detailed Description
Dubonnet is the most popular aperitif brand in the United States. The variety Dubonnet Rouge is based on red wine fermented with quinine and several spices. A perfect balance of bitterness, citrus, spice and a slight sweetness. Simply add some ice cubes and perhaps a piece of lemon zest, and you’ll get yourself a terrific aperitif. You can mix Dubonnet Rouge also with bitter lemon, gin or other drinks.
Distillery Information
Dubonnet was first sold in 1846 by Joseph Dubonnet, in response to a competition run by the French Government to find a way of persuading French Foreign Legionnaires in North Africa to drink quinine.
