Detailed Description
Don Amado is a heritage distillery citing 11 generations of mezcal production in Mexico’s Oaxaca region. The agave hearts are gently roasted in the earth before being double distilled in traditional ceramic bamboo pots. Perhaps most notable is that the resulting spirit spends 18 months in ex-Pedro Domecq brandy casks — the producer of Mexico’s most celebrated brandy and an incredibly popular brand nationally.
Don Amado Añejo Mezcal Tasting Notes
Nose: There are savory, mesquite aromas that hint at a backyard barbecue and toasted cayenne pepper, but these flavors flow deftly between layers of succulent tones of baked stone fruit from the strong brandy barrel influence.
Palate: The palate continues in similar form with with notes of grilled pineapple.
Finish: Finish with a bright saline minerality for a long, refreshing coda.
Distillery Information
Hacienda Teresa enjoys generous amounts of sunlight and large flatlands, making it ideal for the cultivation of fresh, juicy sugarcane. In 1865, the Serrallés family began distilling the excess sugar cane harvested from Hacienda Teresa into rum.
