Detailed Description
An experimental expression from Cockburn’s, Tawny Eyes is a vibrant barrel-aged tawny Port. The folks behind the creation are more than enthusiastic about mixing it (ginger ale is the preferred pairing), but that doesn’t mean it can’t hold its own neat – if you do enjoy it on its own, we’ve heard it goes rather well with sweet, fruity pastries.
Cockburn’s Tawny Eyes Port Tasting Notes
Nose: A lively and fine-textured port with generous aromas of honey
Palate: Caramel and hint of vanilla.
Finish: Subtle flavours of red fruit and walnuts .
Distillery Information
Cockburn’s has always questioned the so-called ‘rules’ for making port. Back in 1815, Robert and John Cockburn, two brothers from Scotland, bypassed the stuffy merchant’s fair in Porto and bought the very best grapes directly from farmers upriver in the Douro. The look on their faces…We’ve done things our way, declaring vintage years whenever we feel it’s right, regardless of what rival port houses might think.
