An American apple brandy, produced by the Clear Creek Distillery (makers of McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt Whiskey). If you’re looking for an alternative to Calvados, this could be just the ticket! It’s made using Golden Delicious apples grown in Yakima Valley in Washington State, which are crushed, fermented, distilled and aged for 8 years in Limousin oak casks. With plenty of intense fruit sweetness and complex spice from the maturation. We could describe it as the “apple of our eye” or something, but we don’t go for that sort of low-hanging-fruit wordplay.

Nose: Strikes a near perfect balance of oak and fruit. Though delicate in aroma.

Palate: Apple notes come through loud and clear on the palate, complemented by sweet vanilla.

Finish: A touch of tannin, and a long finish.

Distillery Information

Clear Creek Distillery is a distillery based in Hood River, Oregon, formerly Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1985, it has been owned by Hood River Distillers since 2014. It is most well known for its eau de vie produced from Bartlett pears, though today it also makes a variety of other fruit brandies, aged spirits, and liqueurs.
