It is made with rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and a twist of lemon. The special element of the Blue Blazer is that it is set on fire before serving. The drink is made by taking two silver jiggers and filling one with whiskey and one with vermouth. The two liquids are then heated separately over a flame and then poured back and forth between the two jiggers several times. The result is a blue flame that is poured over a twist of lemon and into a glass. The drink is unique and an impressive sight to behold.
