Detailed Description
Single cask rum from Bellevue distillery in Guadeloupe. A pot still rum distilled from molasses in 1998, it aged for an impressive 24 years in an American white oak cask, the first seven of which where in a tropical climate, before it crossed the Atlantic ocean in 2005 to finish its maturation in Liverpool. It was bottled by The Royal Cane Cask Company in 2022 at 51.5% ABV, with an outturn of only 265 bottles. Expect a rich, floral, citrussy rum, with molasses character and a touch of smoke.
Distillery Information
Bellevue distillery is in the heart of the largest sugarcane plantation of Marie-Galante in Guadeloupe. The Bellevue au Moule estate and its distillery were established at the end of the 19th century, and the iconic windmill was built in 1821. In 1942, the estate was acquired by Roger Damoisea Sr, and is now still owned by his grandsons. Bellevue distillery is also the first Caribbean distillery to have committed to protecting the environment, with a 100% non-polluting production process.
