This 100% Chardonnay is crafted with fruit sourced from traditional Chardonnay territory, the Côte des Blancs. However, almost half of the blend is from Chardonnay sourced from Montagne de Reims, which provides suppleness, roundness and lightness, giving even greater potential for aging. The resulting Blanc de Blancs has a delicate fruit character combined with a unique power and structure. The 100% Chardonnay assemblage, comprises a trio of vintages; 2009, 2010 & 2012.
Nose: The first aromas of lightly buttered, baked pastry are followed by notes of pear, hazelnut and a hint of gingerbread.
Palate: On the palate, flavors of exotic fruits such as guava, gooseberry and peach are complemented by sweet spice notes of cinnamon and vanilla.
Finish: Fresh, mineral finish.
Armand de Brignac, colloquially known as the “Ace of Spades” after its logo, is the name of the tête de cuvée Champagne brand produced by Champagne Cattier and sold in opaque metallic bottles. The brand’s first bottling, Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, is identifiable by its gold bottle with French pewter Ace of Spades labels. The Armand de Brignac champagnes are produced in a multi-vintage style (like Krug’s Grande Cuvée), and the Brut Gold cuvée is a blend of the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. Two other cuvées, a Rosé and a Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay), were released in 2008. In 2015, a Demi Sec and a Blanc de Noirs (100% Pinot Noir) also joined the range.
