Detailed Description
The 2019 Blanc de Blancs La Haute Lemblé is fabulous. Rich, deep and super-expressive, the 2019 impresses with its vertical lift, density and explosive energy. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, spice and mint soar out of the glass, while light tropical accents lend an exotic flair the Haute Lemblé doesn’t often show.
Producer Information
Champagne Roses de Jeanne is a sought-after Champagne producer located in the Côte de Bar in the village of Celles-sur-Ource. Propietor Cédric Bouchard has been producing Roses de Jeanne Champagne since 2000 from single vineyards, varieties and vintages, forgoing the usual Champagne practice of assemblage or blending. Vineyards for the production of Champagne Roses de Jeanne are all located in the Aube, an area in the south of the region that is known as Pinot Noir country. It is warmer here than in comparison to the northern parts of Champagne with soils largely composed of limestone-rich clay. Bouchard farms his own vineyards organically and produces varietal Champagnes from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. Vine yields are kept extremely low to allow for concentrated flavor compounds to accumulate in the berries. Champagne Roses de Jeanne is vinified more like a Burgundy to express the vintage, the individual character of the grape variety, and the terroir. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, juice is only used from the first pressing, and fermentation is completed via indigenous yeasts. After a secondary fermentation in bottle, Champagnes are corked without dosage. Styles in Roses de Jeanne’s portfolio include Blanc de Noirs, Blanc de Blancs, and Rosé Champagnes.
