Description
Detailed Description
The soils are made up of sandy loam, with clay and plenty of Galestro marl heavy stone. The wines age in 500-liter French oak tonneaux and 15 to 25-Hl Slavonian oak barrels for at least 24 months, followed by a period of bottle aging. The wine has a deep ruby red color with garnet highlights, and an ample, slightly spicy bouquet. It is full, intense, smooth, and velvety on the palate, with sweet, elegant tannins.
Reviews:
- Wine Spectator: Whiffs of ripe cherry, licorice and truffle signal this elegant and enticing red. Light-weight yet intense, with fine balance and the structure for aging. Wild herb and mineral notes round out the flavor spectrum. Best from 2021 through 2035. 650 cases imported
- Wine Advocate: The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino offers a soft and fruity interpretation of this slightly cooler vintage. The bouquet is lively and bright with loads of primary fruit at its core. That fruit (and the balanced acidity) will surely be the motor to drive this wine forward during the course of its future evolution. There is a point of sourness with well-managed tannins. The finish offers flavors of dried cherry, moist earth, and tobacco.
