Reserved aromas of kiwi and banana lead to dry lightly styled grapefruit flavors. The concentration doesn’t seem all there.
Producer Information
14 Hands Winery is a Washington state wine producer, based in the Columbia Valley. It produces a number of varietal wines from popular regional varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Riesling. The brand was created in 2005 by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, which also owns the major Washington labels Chateau Ste. Michelle and Columbia Crest. It was conceived as a restaurant line but, due to its popularity, production was increased to satisfy retailers as well. This led to 14 Hands becoming one of the fastest-growing American wine labels and several million cases are produced each year. Fruit for the 14 Hands reserve range is sourced from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, and the name refers to the measurement of horses – specifically to the height of mustangs. 14 Hands produces a wide catalogue of wines split between a reserve range and a more value-driven range. The value range carries the broader Columbia Valley designation. In 2014, the 14 Hands label took over the Snoqualmie winery in Prosser, Washington. Snoqualmie, also owned by Chateau Ste. Michelle, relocated its production facilities to the Columbia Crest winery.
