Description
Detailed Description
Round and very elegant on the palate, this is a beautifully balanced Grand Clos with a concentrated finish with tight but fine tannins and a fresh acidity that gives a positive astringency.
Producer Information
In 1977, at the age of 22, Yannick Amirault took over these vineyards from his grandfather. Today the holdings amount to 19 acres. Yannick’s son Benoit joined his father in 2003. The vineyard is divided among 13 ha in Bourgueil and 6 in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. The domaine has been certified Organic since 2009 with no chemical sprays or weed killers used since 1997. All vineyards are entirely harvested by hand. Since 2003 the winemaking methods have evolved so that the wine keeps the authentic reflection of the vintage (no correction of the degree and acidity). Yannick and Benoit have returned to fermentation in wooden vats, maintaining a natural approach with indigenous yeasts, no sulphites and natural extraction methods. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. The domaine follows the “moon calendar” for all cellar and vineyard work.
