Known as Onyx Secret Stash Reserve, this new young whiskey is the more regularly to be produced off shoot of an experiment done over the last couple years releasing aged spirit in private barrels to select retailers around the state.
Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, Maple Syrup.
Palate: Molasses, Maple Syrup, Vanilla, Cherries, Nutmeg.
Finish: Moderate and smooth with some cherry and almond flavors.
Onyx Spirits, the company that produces Onyx Moonshine, was founded by Adam von Gootkin and Peter Kowalczyk in 2011. The product is distilled in reflux column stills from a mash of mixed corn and grain. After two distillations it is approximately 80% ABV, and is then diluted to bottling strength. The bottles are corked and labeled by hand.
