Stravecchio, pronounced ‘Stra-Vech-Key-O’, means ‘extra old’ and this famous Italian brandy was first launched back in 1888. For its first 120 years it was called ‘Branca Old Cognac’ but was rebranded Stravecchio Branca in 1985 due to the introduction of European regional appellations.

The eau-de-vie is aged for more than three years before blending with one third kept to rest in the ‘Great Barrel’ to blend with successive years’ production. Made from Slovenian oak, the great barrel or ‘Botte Madre’ is one of the largest active casks in Europe and since 1888 has never been emptied, so helping to preserve the consistency and well-balanced character of the blend.Although little known outside its home market, Stravecchio Branca is one of the biggest on-trade brands of brandy in Italy.
Nose: Brandy butter and vanilla with wine, hints of oak, cigar and caramel.
Palate: Relatively light, quaffable, fruity palate with oaky smoky, tobacco flavours adding structure.
Finish: Mocha coffee emerges in the still slightly smoky finish.
