Detailed Description
Italian brandy from Oro Pilla. Made using a recipe that’s over 100 years old, and matured in oak for three years, this makes a great digestif, and a fab ingredient in a Sidecar.
Distillery Information
Oro Pilla brandy was born from the centuries-old experience of the Pilla brothers, who in 1919 founded the distillery of the same name in Venice. The pursuit of excellence combined with a strong entrepreneurial spirit quickly increases the notoriety of its liqueurs. In 1944 the company headquarters was bombed and the Pilla Brothers were forced to transfer the distillery to the island of Murano. The post-war period represents a very difficult moment of recovery, aggravated by a change in consumption and by an increase in competition. However, the Distillery found support in the Zarri-Fini family, originally from Bologna, who acquired it in 1954. Thanks to huge advertising investments, Oro Pilla prospers like never before, becoming, in 1961, the protagonist of a commercial created for the Carosello, flanked by two exceptional testimonials: the musician Xavier Cugat and his wife, the actress and singer Abbe Lane . It was in the 1970s that Italian brandy reached its maximum splendor and fame, exceeding one million bottles.
